Virtualization:Windows on Linux

I have seen numerous people using Virtual Workstations mainly on windows so that they could vet other Operating Systems like Linux. It is the first time in my life that I have allocated 130GB (ext4) partition to Linux and got virtual box installed in order to run Windows on Fedora.

Virtualbox

Virtual Box is a free software designed for both Windows and Linux. It even supports different communities like BSD, Linux, Windows and MAC. I created a virtual hard disk (around 20Gb) and windows 7 runs smoothly. My image is configured with following settings (EFI Disabled):

I got Visual Studio 2010 with SQL Server 2008 up and running. Regarding Internet and Networking, I am currently bridged on eth0 and internet works fine :) The graphics rendering does not seem to be affected that much as the edges and text are smooth:

I simply had to install virtual box extensions and ad myself to vboxusers group in order to get usb working. If ever you encountered errors, I suggest you visit: Troubleshooting This experience was simply amazing :-)

Scuba Diving in Mauritius

Trou Aux Biches

I chose Scuba as secondary hobby as I wanted to explore marine life. It took me one one month to get certified (open water diver) and an additional month to become and Advanced Open Water Diver by PADI Hopefully I can now dive up to 30m.

My dive buddy managed to get some pictures taken. I find diving an amazing experience. You might have heard some myths about shark attacks, manta ray venemous’ bites and others but in fact ‘The attack’ is just a defensive measure in case the animal is in a state of fear.

Among the adventures, shipwreck is certainly not to miss as many fishes explore those areas as corals are grown up there with time.

Android vs iOS

Android-Vs-iOS
I have been thinking whether I should be going for Android or iOS since both of them are reputed on the market. Both specifications suit my needs but to some extent. For example, I can upgrade both firmware for Android and Apple but if the latter has been jailbroken, iTunes will integrate some kind of security which will prevent the phone to be unlocked again after flashing – some kind of watchdog :)

I am a developer and I’ll tend to write some small stuff using the available SDKs but it seems iPhone hasn’t got much since the xda forum for iPhone is quite ‘unoccupied’ compared to Android. You might not agree but seeing is believing:

iPhone Forum The Android market has got better things in terms of development compared to iPhone. I am a fan of Open Source and I pretty sure that it’s my right to contribute to the community instead of pulling software.

I guess, I will have to go for Android phones instead of iOS. Among those I have decided are HTC Desire HD and HTC Inspire. HD has got a lower battery lifespan according to XDA Forum and Inspire is 4g which may or won’t work in my country but I’ve made up my mind – High Tech Communications will be my best bet for Android Phone.
